Since The Temporary by American Place casino opened approximately two months ago, another new business began selling to customers nearby in the area around the Fountain Square shopping center and four or five more are in the planning stages.
“I am very pleased that we have seen significant economic development surrounding the casino,” Mayor Ann Taylor said in an email. “We’ve seen firsthand the increased interest in Fountain Square, as the casino is an economic engine for Waukegan.”
Among the planned developments is a strip shopping center containing a Five Guys restaurant, a Jimmy John’s sandwich shop and one to two additional merchants on Northpoint Boulevard, walking distance from the casino.
