The Kendall County Board is considering adding regulations and potential fees for video gambling machines. The county would only regulate businesses outside of city limits.
County Administrator Christina Burns says the county doesn’t really have anything on the books.
“In doing our liquor license review it was something we observed that we do not have any real regulations related to video gaming establishments and so that is something that is typically regulated. There are some state requirements on where they’re placed and it also provides an additional tool in the licensing side.”
State law allows local governments to charge a fee of up to $250 per machine, but county staff say it doesn’t have to be set at the maximum level.
