The City of Washington is increasing the number of video gaming establishments allowed in the community in addition to the number of gaming machines permitted to accommodate requests from a pair of businesses.

The Washington City Council Monday night unanimously agreed to allow 12 video gaming establishments to operate in the city and permit 72 gaming terminals. Before the motion passed, the city permitted 11 licensed establishments and 57 gaming terminals.

The Peak on Summit, located at 201 South Summit Drive, applied to become a new video gaming establishment and sought permission to operate six terminals starting on May 1.

The Blue Ox at 120 North Wilmor Road, an existing license holder under a previous owner, also requested permission for gaming terminals, which is the maximum allowed for each establishment.
