An Aurora City Council committee on Thursday recommended establishing a tax increment financing district connected to the Hollywood Casino-Aurora project.
Aldermen on the Finance Committee voted unanimously to support ordinances establishing the Farnsworth-Bilter Tax Increment Financing District, and the redevelopment plan and project for the district.
The ordinances will go before the full council as a Committee of the Whole on Tuesday night. Officials have said the council will vote on establishing the TIF district in January.
The TIF district was contemplated as part of a redevelopment agreement between the city and Penn Entertainment, Hollywood’s parent company, approved by the City Council on Oct. 26, 2022.
