Amid rising gas prices, now averaging above $6 per gallon in California, commuters may find some relief, if they’re willing to go a little out of the way to find it.

At the Morongo Travel Center in Cabazon, gas prices are well below the national average: $4.99 for regular, $5.29 for mid-grade and $5.49 for premium. Diesel is also priced low at $6.79, while the state average for diesel now sits well above $7 per gallon.

The California Post have reached out to Morongo for comment on the low prices and what factors influence its pricing strategy.

California’s tribal casinos often leverage their sovereign status to undercut the competition at the pump.
