Sunset Station will kick off a new outdoor concert series this spring, bringing six nights of contemporary jazz to the Henderson casino’s Side Lawn beginning May 16.
The series will feature monthly performances through October, leading off with Jarez, a Billboard-charting saxophonist and producer who served as the longtime manager and touring saxophonist for the late Grammy-winning rapper Coolio. Jarez has built his solo career around a blend of smooth jazz sophistication and urban edge, reaching No. 1 on the SmoothJazz.com album chart with his 2020 release “J Funk City.”
Saxophonist Adrian Crutchfield takes the stage June 20. Crutchfield got his start at 4 years old when Kenny G, spotting the child in the audience at a Roanoke, Va., concert, invited him onstage and gave him his first saxophone.
