Surrounded by grassy fields and small herds of cattle, the modest gray building of the now-shuttered Ioway Casino sits right off Route 66 in rural Lincoln County.

Directly across the Mother Road, one glance at the expansive new facility with its bold, star-studded signage provides an instant indication that the Chandler area is getting quite the upgrade when it comes to casinos.

Developed in partnership with the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma, Harrah’s Oklahoma — the first casino property in the Sooner State that’s managed by the famed Las Vegas-based company Caesars Entertainment — is celebrating its anticipated grand opening Thursday, April 9.

“There’s excitement. I hear from our team members that the community that they live in is talking about it,” said Joe Scibetta, senior vice president and general manager for Harrah’s Oklahoma.
