B2B platform supplier Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) is close to striking a deal to buy evoke’s share of B2C sports betting brand 888Africa, NEXT.io understands.

As Bally’s Intralot thrashes out the details of its upcoming acquisition of evoke, multiple sources have confirmed the William Hill owner has been shopping around its stake in 888Africa.

It comes as evoke is reportedly desperate for cash, having flagged “material uncertainties” in continuing as a going concern if the Bally’s deal fails. It is therefore keen to realise value from the Christopher Coyne-led joint venture in Africa.

NEXT.io can report that platform provider GiG is looking at getting back into the B2C business, six years after selling its initial portfolio of consumer-facing brands to Betsson Group.
