German sports betting trade body DSWV is urging the government to back its anti-illegal gambling pledge with concrete action, including the introduction of a specialized prosecutor and stronger support for the legal market.
Germany’s new federal government, formed by the CDU/CSU and SPD, has included a one-liner in its coalition agreement promising to improve the fight against illegal gambling.
While the DSWV praised the section as an “important signal”, the association criticized the vague language and called for swift, concrete implementation.
In order to “turn good intentions into effective policy”, the DSWV said it is submitting concrete proposals on how enforcement can be improved together with the federal states.
