The German state of Schleswig-Holstein wants to sell its state-owned casinos in Kiel, Lübeck, Schenefeld and Flensburg, and has officially started the sales process.
The local government recently announced its intention to sell in the EU Official Journal, inviting interested operators to apply to buy the casinos.
If the framework conditions are satisfactory, interested parties will enter a negotiation phase in which they can submit their bids for the casinos in Schleswig-Holstein.
The Ministry of Finance pitches the value of the four existing casinos in Kiel, Lübeck, Schenefeld and Flensburg as well as a fifth location in the Bargteheide region, at a total of around €1.7bn [$2.0bn].
