Legalizing still more ways Virginians can gamble and trying to tighten oversight on the ways they already do will likely be major battlegrounds in the General Assembly yet again.
One measure would allow online, casino-style gambling on sites run by licensed operators and says unlicensed operators offering Virginians online gambling could be charged with a felony and fined up to $1 million.
Legislators and lobbyists say there’ll also be another push to legalize skill games, the slot machine-like devices that hundreds of convenience stores and truck stops relied on for income when the pandemic slowed traffic but that were banned in 2020.
