Reciting the philosophy, “Timing is everything in life,” Cliff Atkinson is hauling out of downtown and moving to The Strat.

Atkinson has been hired as president at the famed north-Strip resort, confirmed by operator Golden Entertainment. The veteran hospitality official has left the Fremont Street Experience [FSE], where he served as president and CEO since this past February.

Atkinson notified the FSE board of his Strat plans on Wednesday. He leaves Fremont Street soon and starts fast at The Strat. His last day at FSE is Nov. 6. His first day at The Strat is Nov. 9.

According to a Golden Entertainment release, Atkinson will oversee all of The Strat’s operations, including its 2,427-room hotel, 80,000-square-foot casino and the tallest freestanding observation tower in the U.S.
