With General Dynamics Electric Boat undertaking a huge expansion in eastern Connecticut, another pillar of the regional economy got a vote of confidence on Wednesday: tourism, with the planned reopening of a dormant hotel next to Foxwoods Resort Casino.
The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation announced Wednesday that it will bring back Two Trees Inn at Foxwoods next spring, with Waterford Hotel Group to manage the 240 Indiantown Road venue just off Foxwoods Boulevard. Foxwoods and the nearby Mohegan Sun resort and casino are the two largest tourist magnets on the Connecticut map.
The Two Trees Inn first opened in 1993 across from Foxwoods, a year after the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation began offering a full slate of casino gaming.
