Flutter Entertainment confirmed a data breach involving personal information occurred at its Paddy Power and Betfair brands today (8 July).
Personal information from Paddy Power and Betfair users, including usernames, email addresses and first lines of home addresses and cities, have been compromised, according to images posted on social media. The business added that some details of recent activity on accounts, such as technical data like device ID and IP address, had also been accessed.
While NEXT.io understands that not all Paddy Power customers were affected, nonetheless a significant number have been.
In its statement to customers Flutter warned that, while it was not aware of any misuse of personal information so far, there is a risk criminals may use this information to conduct phishing attacks or impersonate customers.
