The challenger in Plantation’s mayoral race, Nick Sortal, had a decisive victory Tuesday night.

Sortal, who was first elected in 2018 to the City Council, took on incumbent Mayor Lynn Stoner. Stoner served on the Plantation City Council from 2011 to 2017 before first being elected mayor in 2018.

Plantation’s mayor is elected citywide, and unlike most cities that have a city manager, it’s the mayor who runs day-to-day operations. The mayor’s salary is $127,445 a year.
