The House Industries and Professional Activities Subcommittee wrapped up a hearing on Rep. John Snyder’s HB 1467 on April 1st, and the committee issued a favorable report. Among the several suggestions include: toughening punishments for operating and encouraging illegal gaming, making it more serious than felonies. The bill also outlaws sports betting by anyone who knows the results in advance or has insider information about daily fantasy sports. Furthermore, the bill prohibits an individual from entering the gaming industry within two years of leaving the Florida Gaming Control Commission.

Offering gaming tips is not included in the bill’s list of prohibited activities as it is not considered insider information.
