A dozen companies have received licenses to operate in Finland’s upcoming online gambling market, the National Police Board has revealed through an information request submitted by iGB.

Several companies including Wildz Group and HipposATG had announced licenses themselves but this is the first official confirmation from the regulator itself of license approvals for the highly anticipated market opening.

Finland is in the process of liberalizing its previously state monopoly-run regime, opening online gambling up to private operators on 1 July 2027. A licensing application process is ongoing and being administered by the National Police Board.

The National Police Board told iGB that as of 26 October, 79 gambling licence applications had been submitted.
