Concerns are mounting in Las Vegas as ongoing trade tensions with Canada and Mexico threaten to impact the city’s vital tourism industry.
Local economist Mike PeQueen highlighted the significance of Canadian and Mexican visitors, noting, “Of all the foreign visitors to Las Vegas, Canada is the biggest contributor to that, and Mexico is second, and Great Britain is third.”
The trade disputes come as Las Vegas was beginning to recover from a decline in foreign tourism following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pre-pandemic, international visitors accounted for 20% of the city’s tourism.
