If you were hoping to buy alcohol at the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe’s Taunton Casino, you will have to wait.

On July 9, 2025, the Taunton License Commission approved an alcohol license for the Taunton casino to sell alcohol. But the tribe has yet to receive federal approval of their liquor control ordinance, according to a search of the federal government’s Federal Register system.

Currently, alcohol is not for sale at the casino, a spokesperson for the Mashpee Wampanoag told the Gazette.

“The tribe is not selling alcohol,” spokesperson Steven Peters said. Peters did not respond to questions about the lack of federal approval of a Mashpee Wampanoag Liquor Control Ordinance.
