In a proactive approach to help fight human trafficking, the Cherokee Nation is adopting new policies at the government level that add awareness training for its 6,000 employees.
“We have a tremendous workforce across our government departments,” Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. said. “Today, through our employee learning portal, we’ll have a number of classes – human trafficking awareness, human trafficking training for health care providers, human trafficking prevention, human trafficking fundamentals and the very basic course, ‘What is Human Trafficking.’ Knowledge is power. It’s important that our work family be aware of what’s going on so that we can do something to make a positive difference.”
