The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has canceled a planned policy roundtable that would have given a forum to groups who say sports prediction markets violate state gambling laws.

The CFTC, currently the de facto regulator of sports event contracts sold by companies like Kalshi, Crypto.com and Robinhood, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The agency didn’t say if the meeting would be rescheduled.

Last Friday, a CFTC official told Sportico the roundtable was being reshaped into “more of a forum or hearing ” that would “include several panels representing a broad array of stakeholder viewpoints.”
