Three Central Massachusetts nonprofits received a total of $400,000 from Massachusetts Cultural Council as part of the Gaming Mitigation Program in fiscal 2023.

The Gaming Mitigation Program was created to help level the playing field for performing arts nonprofits as newly opened casinos in the state can spend significant money to attract performances, according to a Feb. 9 press release from MCC.

The majority of the $3.74 million awarded in fiscal 2023 went to organizations in Eastern Massachusetts, but in Central Massachusetts The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts in Worcester received $225,000, Music Worcester received $103,700, and The Center for Arts in Natick received $72,400.
