The Vallejo City Council voted shortly after midnight Tuesday to send a comment letter to the U.S. Department of the Interior regarding a proposed major casino development in Vallejo by the Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians.
The decision came toward the end of a seven-hour-long council meeting with an 11-item agenda that ended at 1:54 a.m., with members of the council and the public bemoaning the lateness of the hour. Some agenda items had to be postponed for consideration at a future meeting.
“I am not on board with making a consequential decision after midnight,” Mayor Andrea Sorce said during discussion of the item. “They (the public) are going to wake up tomorrow and read that the council made a decision on the casino and it is going to torch trust.”
