On Feb. 13, the San Francisco-based law firm filed a lawsuit in Shasta County Superior Court on behalf of a group created eight days earlier, on Feb. 5: “The California Land Stewardship Council Limited Liability Corporation.”

They’re asking the court to declare illegal the 30-year agreement between Shasta County and the Rancheria, approved by the board of supervisors in a 4-1 vote last summer.

The complaint says supervisors ignored county staff, the county attorney, the sheriff and fire chief’s opposition to the agreement.
