Mary Cheeks, who led the Jamul Casino Resort through a period of notable expansion, is stepping down as president and general manager after eight years.

The Jamul Indian Village Development Council announced her departure on Aug. 13, marking the end of a chapter defined by the property’s transition from a regional gaming center to a hospitality destination. The JIVDC has not yet announced a successor or an interim replacement for the president and general manager position.

Since joining in 2018, Cheeks oversaw major strategic and operational shifts — most notably the $270 million luxury hotel tower development that prompted the property’s rebranding to Jamul Casino Resort.
