A Vancouver casino operator wants to expand the number of slot machines from 600 to 900 at its facility adjacent to BC Place Stadium.
Parq Holdings Limited Partnership and the BC Lottery Corporation (BCLC) have submitted parallel applications to the City of Vancouver to add 300 slots to the Parq Casino at 39-65 Smithe St.
The applications will go before city council Feb. 3 as a “referral report.” Council will decide whether to refer the applications to a future public hearing.
The report said the Gaming Control Act requires the host local government “to satisfy BCLC that adequate community input has been sought and considered prior to deciding on an application to substantially change the type or extent of a gaming facility.”
