Discussion about gambling in Wyoming continued Friday as two more bills got the green light to advance to the next stage in the lawmaking process.

The two measures would close a perceived gambling loophole and remove gambling machines from places like grocery stores.

Sen. John Kolb, R-Rock Springs, who helped lead an interim committee on gaming, presented the bills to the Senate Revenue Committee for consideration.

Senate File 44 seeks to refine the statutory definitions of “gambling” and “bona fide social relationships.” Under current Wyoming law, gambling is generally illegal, but exceptions exist for certain social games. However, lawmakers and law enforcement officials argued that these exceptions have been exploited by professional operators.
