Betsson AB CEO Pontus Lindwall said the company no longer views Latin America as a growth or emerging market but instead a “core pillar” of the group’s business.

Speaking to NEXT.io, Lindwall said the operator’s focus is shifting from expansion to execution, as Betsson balances continued growth opportunities with increasing regulation, competition and the path to long-term profitability.

Betsson’s shift in positioning reflects the scale the region has already reached. During Q1, the region accounted for around one-third of group revenue. Total revenue in Latam hit €93.0m, some 24.7% more than the previous year.

The operator has built a diversified presence across several markets such as Peru, Argentina and Colombia, with support from local hubs in Bogotá and Buenos Aires.
