As the province ramps up online betting and gambling privatization with Bill 48, some concerned university students are leading the charge for a complete ban on all online gambling advertising — and they wish Connor McDavid would play for their team.

There are links between problem gambling and mental disorders, and the added stress of debt and compulsive behavior accelerates problematic coping, and can drive sufferers into a corner, away from support networks and finances — whether mental disorders or gambling come first in the cycle is not the point, said SAPH team member Sarah Toay.
