The province has confirmed July 13 will be the opening date for its online gambling market after sports betting company DraftKings announced its intent to join that market Thursday.
Service Alberta Minister Nally told reporters it is exciting to see that company, along with another online gambling provider, theScore, express interest in joining the market and being “responsible operators. ”
Nally also confirmed that 32 other groups have applied to be a part of the market, with 20 having already paid a $150,000 deposit.
“I would say that those 20 companies are committed to player safety, and that’s good news,” Nally said.
