The CEO of the nation’s gambling trade association and a former New Jersey governor whose administration started the fight that led to most of the country having legal sports betting took aim Wednesday at prediction markets, calling them a threat to traditional casinos and sportsbooks that needs to be brought under state control.

These companies do most of their business taking what amounts to bets on sporting events, but also let customers wager on things involving politics, business and pop culture.

Speaking during the second day of the East Coast Gaming Congress at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City, Bill Miller, president and CEO of the American Gaming Association, and former Gov. Chris Christie took aim at prediction companies like Kalshi and Polymarket, continuing criticism that began on the first day of the conference Tuesday.
