Beyond Vegas: A nature-inspired trip to Seven Feathers Casino

Thursday, July 30, 2026 6:38 PM

One of the things I love most about what I do is traveling to casino destinations that are a bit off the beaten path or offer some sort of unique experience. Seven Feathers Casino Resort in Canyonville, Oregon, delivers both. My husband and I recently planned a weekend getaway, and it ended up with one of our favorite casino trips in a long time.

Instead of booking a hotel room, we stayed in one of the property’s yurts at the Seven Feathers RV Resort. The 23-acre campground features 191 RV sites, cabins, and luxury yurts that were added in 2021. The yurt was a perfect choice, the epitome of glamping! It had all of the comforts I require, but with that camping experience that my husband loves. The campground is peaceful, surrounded by trees, and far enough from the casino that it feels like you’ve escaped into nature. After spending a few hours on the casino floor, it was so nice to hop on one of the free shuttle buses and head back to a quiet place, instead of another busy hotel. I didn’t realize how much I’d appreciate that separation until we experienced it.

The casino itself didn’t disappoint either. We had several unexpected wins on the slot machines, which always makes a trip more exciting. We also spent quite a bit of time at the table games, because the dealers at Seven Feathers are some of my favorites. Of course, winning is always nice, but great dealers can make a session fun even when the cards don’t go your way.

One of the best parts of the trip had nothing to do with gambling. Since Crater Lake National Park is only about a two-hour drive away, we spent a day exploring. I’ll be honest. Taking the road trip was my husband’s idea and I thought it was a bit silly to drive so far “just to see some water.” Once we saw it, I had to hand it to him. Pictures don’t do it justice.

The water and scenery are breathtaking and absolutely worth the drive. It ended up being a perfect way to break up the weekend and another reminder of why I enjoy casino road trips so much. I can play slot machines anywhere in the country. Taking these sorts of trips around the country allows me to experience so much more than just a gaming floor.

We left Seven Feathers feeling like we’d taken two vacations in one. We got our casino fix, enjoyed some memorable wins, laughed with great dealers about absolute nonsense (Dolly Parton — IYKYK), slept under the stars in a cozy yurt, and checked Crater Lake off the travel list. That’s a pretty successful weekend in my book!

Now I just have to figure out, where to next?
