Southland Casino Racing presented a check on Monday for $46,427 to The Good Neighbor Lover Center, a non-profit emergency resource center in West Memphis, Arkansas. The donation will be used for food and utility assistance for low-income families in the area.
“We have a deep appreciation for the work that the Good Neighbor Love Center does to supply food and utility assistance to low-income families in our community,” said Southland Casino Racing General Manager and President David Wolf in a statement. “And to take it a step further – it’s wonderful to know that we are a part of something even larger, as patrons of other gaming venues within our company’s U.S. portfolio are helping those in need within their respective communities.”
The donation is part of Delaware North’s “Game Changer” initiative across its gaming companies (Delaware North is Southland’s parent company). The “Game Changer” campaign helps organizations focused on creating positive community impact near participating locations. Since 2020, $243,000 has been raised for organizations near Southland.
“I am very grateful,” said Good Neighbor Love Center Director Jacqueline Cannon in a statement. “This donation will allow our center to expand programs and services to low-income families in our community. It will take us a long way.”
Other Delaware North gaming locations participating in the “Game Changer” initiative include Mardi Gras Casino & Resort in Nitro, West Virginia, and Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack in Wheeling, West Virginia.
