Southland Casino Hotel this week announced it has presented the Boys & Girls Clubs of Crittenden County, Arkansas, a donation of $20,593. The money will help provide programs and activities for more than 1,000 boys and girls.
“We are very happy to provide this funding to all four of Crittenden County’s Boys and Girls Clubs at this critical time,” said Southland Casino Hotel President and General Manager Osi Imomoh in a statement. “We thank our patrons for their generosity, and Southland is dedicated to continuing to support these vital programs for our youth in West Memphis and throughout the county.”
A fundraising campaign that ran from March 1 to May 31, was part of Southland parent company Delaware North’s Game Changer initiative at several company’s gaming properties. Other Delaware North gaming locations participating in the initiative are Mardi Gras Casino & Resort in Nitro, West Virginia, and Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack in Wheeling, West Virginia.
The money will be distributed to four Boys & Girls Clubs locations in West Memphis: Boys & Girls Club of Crittenden County; J.W. Rich Girls Club; Wonder City Boys & Girls Club; and L.R. Jackson Girls Club.
“We all serve the youth in the community in different capacities and locations, but none of us could exist without the other,” said Boys & Girls Club of Crittenden County Executive Director Darin McCollum. “Southland has always been at the heartbeat of what we do with their financial support and volunteerism, and we appreciate it all.”
Since September 2020, Southland has raised $472,000 for more than 20 community organizations.
