LITTLE ROCK, ARK. (AP) — A Hot Springs horse track is closing its casino for the next two weeks over concerns about the novel coronavirus.

Oaklawn announced Sunday it was closing its casino starting Monday through March 30. The horse track held races over the weekend but did not allow spectators on site.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes only mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia.

The vast majority of people recover from the new virus. According to the World Health Organization, people with mild illness recover in about two weeks, while those with more severe illness may take three to six weeks to recover.

Gov. Asa Hutchinson on Sunday told the state’s public schools to close for the next two weeks after the number of cases in the state rose to 16.

Oaklawn says its races will continue without spectators.
