The Arizona Department of Gaming  has reported that the state’s tribal gaming industry contributed $28.6 million to the Arizona Benefits Fund in the third quarter of its fiscal year, about 3.5 percent more than in the third quarter of 2023, where contributions reached $27.6 million.

“In the third quarter of fiscal year 2024, Arizona’s tribal gaming industry maintained its steady growth, marking consecutive record quarters in tribal contributions to the Arizona Benefits Fund … These continuously increasing contributions further solidify the robust partnership between the state and our tribal gaming partners,” said Jackie Johnson, the ADG’s Cabinet Executive Officer.

Per the Arizona Tribal-State Gaming Compacts, casinos operated by tribes must contribute a percentage of their Class III gross gaming revenue to counties, towns and cities. The Arizona Benefits Fund receives 88 percent of tribal gaming contributions, which supports the state’s schools, emergency care, wildlife conservation and tourism.

The $28.6m in tribal gaming contributions went toward:

  • Instructional Improvement Fund/Education: $14,243,532
  • Trauma and Emergency Services Fund: $7,121,766
  • Arizona Department of Gaming operating costs: $2,572,067
  • Arizona Wildlife Conservation Fund: $2,034,790
  • Tourism Fund: $2,034,790
  • Problem Gambling Education, Treatment and Prevention – $571,570

Shared revenues from tribal gaming have been invested in the state for more than 20 years. Since 2004, the Arizona Benefits Fund has received more than $2.16 billion from tribal contributions.
