The Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise is opening its fifth property.
A grand opening event for the Desert Diamond Casino White Tanks at San Lucy will be held December 18. The new location, near Loop 303 and Northern Parkway, west of Glendale, Arizona, will host various activities throughout the day for Tohono O’odham Nation citizens, dignitaries, and the general public.
“Desert Diamond Casino White Tanks is ideally positioned to serve as an economic engine for the fast-growing West Valley,” said Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise CEO Mike Bean in a statement. “This is the Nation’s fifth facility and the iconic Desert Diamond Casino brand is synonymous with unmatched entertainment experience and outstanding guest service. We look forward to creating positive new opportunities for the Tohono O’odham Nation, the West Valley, and Arizona.”
According to a release, the Desert Diamond Casino White Tanks will create more than 1,000 new jobs. The facility will feature an 184,000 square-foot casino floor with 900 Class III slot machines, a poker room, a retail sports book, and table games, including blackjack, roulette, and baccarat.
The new facility also will host a Starbucks and be the only casino in Arizona with a Morton’s the Steakhouse.
Construction of Desert Diamond Casino White Tanks, a $450 million project, began in April 2023. Hunt/Penta Joint Venture served as the general contractor and 5,500 construction jobs were created over 19 months.
JCJ Architecture led the design of the new facility. Desert Diamond Casino White Tanks will eventually expand to include a hotel, conference center, an outdoor pool, recreational amenities, an amphitheater w event lawn space.
