AGEM Index increases 5.5 percent in August

The AGEM Index increased by 78.77 points to 1,502.26 in August 2024, a 5.5 percent increase over July. Compared to one year ago, the Index rose 35.7 percent or 395.19 points.

During the latest month, seven of the 12 AGEM Index companies reported stock-price increases, which resulted in seven positive contributions and five negative contributions to the Index.

The largest positive contributor to the monthly index was Konami Corp., whose 15.2 percent increase in stock price led to a 53.47-point gain. Aristocrat Leisure Limited’s stock price increased by 0.9 percent, leading to a 29.16-point gain.

The largest negative contribution was sourced to Crane NXT, Co., whose 6.6 percent decrease in stock price resulted in a 5.37-point loss to the Index.

By comparison, in August, all three major U.S. stock indices increased from the prior period. The NASDAQ rose by 3.3 percent over the month, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 3.5 percent, and the S&P 500 increased by 4.1 percent over July.
