The AGEM Index added 31.17 points in October to reach a new high of 1,077.92, a 3 percent increase over September. The Index has more than doubled (118 percent) since registering 495.31 in October 2020. Seven companies in the Index added to the record, three subtracted, and one saw no change during the reporting period.
Aristocrat Leisure Limited had the largest impact on the Index, despite its stock price declining by a half-percent. Aristocrat added 15.06 points due to an increase in outstanding shares used to fund an acquisition, coupled with an improvement in the exchange rate between the Australian and U.S. dollars.
International Game Technology was also a significant contributor to the Index’s monthly growth, adding 13.82 points as the result of a 12 percent rise in stock price.
The largest negative contributor was Scientific Games Corporation, whose 3.6 percent drop in stock price led to a 5.32-point decrease.
The AGEM Index came in slightly under the percentage increase in all three major U.S. stock indices in October. The Nasdaq and the S&P 500 grew by 7.5 percent and 6.9 percent, respectively, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 5.9 percent.
