The Wyoming Gaming Commission says that historic horse racing handle and revenue numbers were higher for all three of its operators in May than in April.
The biggest operator, Wyoming Downs, saw a handle of about $81 million in May, increasing from $79 million in April.
The biggest provider for Wyoming Downs was Rock Springs OTB, which handled $9 million throughout May. Like many other Wyoming Downs locations, it operates pari-mutuel wagering machines powered by three different providers – Parimax, Exacta Systems and Ainsworth Game Technology. Ainsworth pari-mutuel betting machines brought in almost 59 percent of the betting handle.
Wyoming Horse Racing generated a betting handle of $39 million, a month-on-month increase of $3 million. Exacta Systems accounted for almost 75 percent of the handle across four pari-mutuel betting providers.
307 Horse Racing, which only offers Exacta Systems machines, generated a handle of $57 million across its 11 locations. In April, the operator handled $54 million. Its most significant success in May was Pershing Parlor Chey, which handled $16 million, the most of any pari-mutuel betting location in the state.
The successful month of horse racing betting comes as more gambling options have been made available in Wyoming. Fanatics Sportsbook launched in the state at the end of May, bringing the number of sportsbook operators to five.
