The Neon Museum on March 25 announced it has been voted the Best Pop Culture Museum in the country in a poll conducted by USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Travel Award contest. The only Nevada museum nominated, the Downtown Las Vegas landmark outpolled 20 nominees, including the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, the Birthplace of Country Music Museum in Bristol, Virginia, and the OZ Museum in Wamego, Kansas.

“We are very honored to have been selected by USA Today and 10Best.com’s travel experts for inclusion in this list of venerable pop culture museums, and we are humbled to have been voted number one by the public,” said Neon Museum Executive Director Aaron Berger in a statement. “As a museum, we are grateful to be seen as a reflection of pop culture. The recognition speaks volumes about how museums can preserve and present historical artifacts that resonate with today’s visitors.”

The 20 nominees were chosen by USA Today and 10Best.com editors, and media from other Gannett properties. Readers then were able to vote once per day over four weeks for their favorite museum.

Billed as “Trusted Travel and Lifestyle Advice,” 10Best.com was acquired by USA Today in 2013 and averages 5 million visitors per month.
