The Wildhorse Foundation has awarded 41 organizations a total of $463,000 in quarterly grant funding.

Administered by the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation in Oregon, in partnership with Wildhorse Resort & Casino, the grants range from $1,200 to $30,000, for projects in the areas of public health, public safety, arts, education, environmental protection, historic preservation, cultural activities, and salmon restoration.

In addition to the quarterly grants, two organizations received $1,500 Rapid Response Grants, designed for small and immediate needs that occur throughout the year. Grace Clinic in Kennewick, Oregon, received an RRG to quickly repair their handheld dental X-ray device, while the Southeast Washington Office of Aging and Long-Term Care Advisory Council in Yakima, Washington, was awarded funding to support seniors and disabled persons in Walla Walla County facing unforeseen financial emergencies that place them at risk of leaving community-based care.

Each year, the Wildhorse Foundation makes grants to eligible nonprofit, government, and tribal organizations within the homeland area of the Cayuse, Umatilla, and Walla Walla people. Also eligible for funding are tribal government agencies or Native American charitable organizations with their base of operations within Oregon, as well as national or regional Indian organizations.

This quarter’s awards bring the Wildhorse Foundation’s grant funding to more than $20 million since its establishment in 2001. Grants are awarded on a quarterly basis with the deadlines being January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1.

Among organizations receiving grants are the United Way of the Blue Mountain in Walla Walla, Oregon; Chess for Success in Portland, Oregon; and the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office in Dayton, Oregon.
