Bruce Smith Enterprise and the Cordish Companies on Monday announced three hires at Live! Casino & Hotel Virginia in Petersburg, Virginia:
- Kirk Marlowe as Head of Security
- Cheryl Brown, Vice President of Marketing
- Patricia Tuck as Vice President of Human Resources
The executives join recent hires Yanina De Vargas as Chief Financial Officer and Penny Parayo as Senior Vice President and General Manager, as senior leadership team members.

Marlowe was with the Virginia State Police for 37 years. His expertise includes criminal investigation, homeland security and law enforcement. Marlowe most recently served as the Virginia State Police’s first Chief Transformation Officer responsible for cross-functional initiatives driving strategic innovation and organizational excellence. He also served as a deputy superintendent, director (lieutenant colonel), deputy director (major) and commander (captain) for the agency.
Brown will oversee all facets of marketing, including advertising, events and promotions, entertainment, and database strategy. Her career began at Live! in 2019 as Director of Loyalty Marketing at Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland and rose to lead database and direct marketing for Cordish Gaming as Vice President of Loyalty Marketing. Brown has more than 25 years of experience in marketing leadership, including with casinos in Atlantic City and the Bahamas, and with Gold Key PHR in Hampton Roads, where she served as Director of Marketing for the Cavalier Resort.
Tuck recently served as the Divisional Vice President of Human Resources for WarHorse Gaming, where she opened two properties and two expansions in fewer than three years. She began her HR career at Harrah’s Entertainment in North Kansas City, and then became Director of Human Resources for Argosy Casino, Hotel & Spa in Riverside, Missouri. Tuck also has served as Executive Director of Human Resources Operations at Seneca Gaming Corporation in Niagara Falls, New York, and Vice President of Human Resources at SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Live! Casino Virginia is under construction and will open pending regulatory approval.
