Former CEO and Founder of Grover Gaming Garrett Blackwelder recently announced the official launch of a brand in land-based gaming. Valicy Gaming – a combination of Blackwelder’s daughter’s names– was unveiled during a recent company launch party in Greenville, North Carolina.
“This is an exciting time for our teams,” Blackwelder said in a statement. “We have the opportunity to do big things in new markets, which gives us energy and enthusiasm. As we grow Valicy, we will focus on relationships, excellence, and innovation.”
Valicy evolved from Grover Gaming, which was sold to Light & Wonder in February for a consideration of $1.05 billion. According to a press release issued then, the consideration was $850 million cash, payable upon closing of the transaction and subject to customary purchase price adjustments; and a contingent cash consideration of up to $200 million, subject to the achievement of certain financial targets through 2028
A news release said Valicy will focus on becoming a major manufacturer in land-based gaming across North America. Retaining most of the employees from the acquisition, Valicy employs a veteran team that will focus on game development and hardware design.
The company says its values represent its CARE triangle —People, Company, and Work — and are deeply rooted in its culture and will remain central to its mission moving forward.
The public debut of the Valicy takes place at the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas, October 6–9, at the Venetian Expo, Booth 1623 .
