Casino Cosmopol, a major player in the Swedish casino scene, has selected a Playtech company called Intelligent Gaming Systems (IGS) for partnership. IGS will provide a raft of solutions for Cosmopol, having been tasked with their entire casino management across the four land-based casinos the company has in the country. This will include table games and all slot machines, as well as poker, registration services and the cage.
Casino Cosmopol is a subsidiary of AB Svenska Spel, and their profits go directly to the Swedish government. The decision to award the contract to IGS was based in large part upon their well-regarded approach towards anti-money laundering (AML) and data protection. Of course, as a part of the public sector, Casino Cosmopol must adhere very strictly to the Swedish Public Procurement Act, and they must be seen to be very attentive to issues such as AML. The partnership will be rolled out across this year and the next in phases.
Playtech acquired IGS, a supplier of software based casino management systems already working with the likes of Aspers in the UK, as well as Regency Casinos, back in 2011 for a little over £5 million. Playtech is a leading provider of software and services for the casino industry, working across the land-based, online and mobile sectors and with numerous government-owned or -sponsored endeavours such as lotteries. They have both business-to-consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) arms. The latter includes their liquidity technology platform, which gives retail brokers access to brokerage services, asset execution and assists with risk management.
This is a natural match for a public body such as Casino Cosmopol, a safe pair of hands with a strong reputation in the industry. IGS is not a company who is likely to drop the ball when it comes to due diligence, so it’s no great surprise that this match was made.
