Interest in University of Colorado Boulder football coach Deion Sanders provided a source of increased sports betting for Simplebet during the 2023 college football season.

The micro-betting products supplier Wednesday announced an increase of 120% percent in handle and the number of bets accepted for college football for 2023.

Sanders, the flashy University of Colorado coach known as Coach Prime, led the team to a subpar 4-8 season. But the team’s popularity resulted in it being the second most interacted team this season in terms of wagering for Simplebet. The Ohio State Buckeyes received the most micro-bets this season, and also played in the most active matchup in terms of total micro-bets placed Nov. 25 versus the University of Michigan,

“We are thrilled with the increases we’ve seen across the board this season with our college football micro-betting markets,” said Simplebet CEO Chris Bevilacqua in a statement. “This is a testament to the hard work of our entire team at Simplebet and the underlying technology, providing markets for 660 games this season and every upcoming bowl game and playoff game. We continue to showcase our dynamic product offering, and how it can fit to any sportsbook operator’s platform.”

Participants in the upcoming College Football Playoff also attracted wagering. Michigan (3rd), the University of Washington (4th) and the University of Alabama (5th) were in the top 10 in wagers placed in 2023. The fourth participant, the University of Texas, was just outside the Top 10.
