Nevada gambling operator Affinity Interactive has appointed Scott Butera as president and CEO.
Affinity, a casino and sports betting company founded in 1987 and backed by Z Capital Group, is a provider of technology solutions and investment strategies and owns and operates five casinos in Nevada, two in Missouri and one in Iowa.
Butera will set company strategy, oversee the company’s eight casinos and manage Affinity’s print and online media platforms, including the Daily Racing Form publication. With more than three decades of experience in the hospitality, gaming, entertainment, sports and media industries, Butera has worked in senior positions at MGM Resorts International, Tropicana Entertainment, Trump Entertainment and others.
“Scott’s operating acumen and deep knowledge of the gaming and entertainment industries have helped AI and Sports Information Group expand product offerings and improve the sports and gaming experience for consumers around the world,” said James J. Zenni Jr., chairman of Affinity and founder, president and CEO of ZCG. “I am confident Scott will integrate seamlessly into this expanded role, and under his leadership, Affinity will achieve greater success, continuing to deliver world-class experiences to nearly 1 million users and guests across platforms.”
Butera was the CEO of Affinity’s Sports Information Group division, where he aimed to boost e-commerce sales for the Daily Racing Form. SIG saw a significant market share and revenue increase during Butera’s tenure as CEO.
“Affinity’s mission to elevate the gaming industry through advanced technology and unparalleled customer offerings – both across digital media platforms as well as in-person gaming – remains a driving force behind the business’s success,” Butera said. “I am eager to collaborate with Jim and leverage my familiarity with the business as well as my passion for driving innovative change to execute on AI’s long-term strategic priorities.”
