SciPlay Corp., the Las Vegas-based mobile-games unit spun off from Scientific Games Corp., is ramping up its hiring efforts in response to increasing demand for its games.

The company has added 20-plus employees since COVID-19 hit the global workforce and expects to hire at least 30 additional employees in 2020 for its Austin office.

SciPlay’s core games, including Jackpot Party Casino, which ranks in the top 5 in the social-casino-games category in the latest report by Eilers & Krejcik, along with Monopoly Slots, have helped propel Austin’s expansion, which has grown to more than 130 employees in the past four years.

In the past year, SciPlay has hired more than 120 new employees, bringing its global team to almost 500 employees.

SciPlay’s growth is partially based on a strategy of bringing in new products, including the acquisition of Come2Play, an Israeli-based developer of such games as Solitaire Pets Adventure and Backgammon Live, the leading backgammon social game on the market, which has afforded SciPlay the opportunity to enter a fast-growing segment in the mobile gaming universe.

The Scientific Games spinoff has also been a beneficiary of the shelter-in-place mandates. New and returning users have turned to mobile social casino play as a form of entertainment at home.

“We are passionate about creating an inclusive culture that celebrates creativity, new ideas, innovative technology and our individual weirdness,” said Karen LeBlanc, lead recruiter for SciPlay’s Austin office. “Together, we will continue to create industry-leading games by collaboratively embracing each other’s unique backgrounds and talents.”

SciPlay is looking to fill several new positions. They vary in required levels of experience, from associate- to principal-level, including software engineers, gameplay analysts, game producers, game artists, and product managers.

The company’s current workforce continues to work from home and a remote recruitment strategy overcomes any limitations resulting from social distancing. SciPlay’s remote recruitment consists of virtual interviews, testing and game play with candidates. New hires receive a no-contact delivery of all equipment needed for their role and enter a specialized onboarding program and comprehensive new-employee training.

“Our highly digitized workforce allows SciPlay to work and recruit virtually with great success,” said Kimber Dall, SciPlay’s Vice President of People Operations.

“As we continue to grow, we’re looking to add talented individuals to our team who take pride in their work, embrace unique perspectives and care deeply about their colleagues,” Dall said. “Most importantly, our newest recruits must love the game as much as our players do.”
