Las Vegas-based gaming products and services provider Scientific Games announced Monday that its joint venture Şans Girişim has won the 10-year exclusive sports betting IDDAA contract in Turkey, Europe’s largest state-sponsored sports betting market and among the top three in the world in sales.
Sans Digital, an affiliate of Demirören Holding, is Scientific’s lead partner in the joint venture. The family-run Demirören conglomerate is one of the largest companies in Turkey, with significant business interests in energy, real estate and media.
Scientific Games will provide its full turnkey sports betting solution to Turkish sports bettors at both retail and via mobile in order to ensure a competitive and successful large-scale sportsbook. The company currently supplies products and services to 35 sports gaming markets globally.
“We are thrilled to win this opportunity to operate the only legal sports betting concession in Turkey,” Scientific Games CEO Barry Cottle said in a statement. “This contract is evidence that our recent efforts to create a superior sports betting offering is coming together through collaboration between Scientific Games’ Lottery and Digital groups. We are honored by the trust given to us by Sans Digital and the government of Turkey.”
The joint venture will implement a national sports betting solution across at least 5,300 retail points-of-sale in Turkey. As part of the solution, Scientific Games will provide the central system hardware and software, terminals, terminal software, maintenance, and risk management solution to support the exclusive retail operation and the businesses which are licensed to provide interactive sports betting.

We believe that gaming is heavily dependent on technology and that this deal is an important first step towards our goal,” Sans Digital board member Sinan Oktay said. “Our decision (to partner with Scientific Games) was based on their proven track record in retail and interactive sports betting and their ability to provide us with a fully integrated offering, including risk management services.”
Scientific Games provided the first full-scale sports betting offering in the U.S following the U.S. Supreme Court’s May 2018 ruling that overturned PASPA. The company is the first associate member of the Global Lottery Monitoring System (GLMS), an organization that protects the integrity of sports competition and sports betting worldwide. Scientific Games is also one of the first suppliers to receive certification from the World Lottery Association as a responsible gaming supplier.
