The 28th edition of SBC’s Canadian Gaming Summit is slated for Toronto, Ontario, from June 17-19, with about 3,000 industry stakeholders expected to attend Canada’s “most commercially significant gaming and betting event,” according to a press release.
Scheduled for the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the event will welcome 1,000 betting and igaming operators, 200 affiliates, and hundreds of representatives from regulatory bodies, Crown Corporations, and suppliers.
“SBC has been at the helm of the Canadian Gaming Summit for three years now, and each year we continue to focus on bringing fresh initiatives to the event, whilst also addressing the topics that are impacting stakeholders the most,” SBC CEO & Founder Rasmus Sojmark said in the release. “Features such as the CyberSecurity Symposium and the return of the Crown Corporation Lounge perfectly embody this commitment, evolving the event from a standard conference and exhibition to a strategic hub for collaboration, thought exchange, and deal making.”
Focusing on major developments in Ontario and Alberta, and with participation from government ministers, regulators, and corporate leaders, the summit will act as a forum for shaping policy, driving innovation, and steering the future of Canada’s gaming sector.
The conference will deliver a three-stage educational program exploring the future of a regulated gaming landscape in Canada, with a strong emphasis on Ontario’s evolution and Alberta’s upcoming market entry. Key themes include the sustainability of Canada’s gaming model; innovations in player protection and responsible gambling; marketing and advertising strategies in a maturing market; cybersecurity threats and regulatory compliance; and the emergence of new technologies such as AI, micro-betting, and influencer marketing.
Panels also will address AML reform, payment technologies, and the harmonization of regulations across provinces to foster innovation.
Over the two main days, delegates will hear from 150 industry leaders. Wednesday morning, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission President Duncan Hannay will kick off the conference with an opening address, while Alberta and Red Tape Reduction, Government of Alberta, Minister of Service Dale Nally will deliver a keynote presentation.
Other notable speakers include the Honourable Doug Downe, the Attorney General of Ontario; iGaming Ontario Chair Dave Forestall; Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario CEO Karin Schnarr; Natasha Questel, Chief Social Purpose Officer and Vice President Marketing of the British Columbia Lottery Corporation; Ontario Culture & Gaming Minister of Tourism Stan Cho; Scott Vanderwel, PointsBet Canada CEO; Canadian Gaming Association President & CEO Paul Burns; and Lucien Wijsman. Electronic Gaming Academy trainer, who will lead two dedicated industry workshops.
Also on this year’s agenda is the new Cybersecurity Symposium, presented in partnership with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. Designed to address the escalating digital threats affecting Canada’s gaming ecosystem, the symposium will bring together cybersecurity experts, regulators, and executives for three focused sessions. It will feature a keynote address by Mikko Hyppönen, a globally recognized cybersecurity authority, author and chief research officer at WithSecure.
The summit’s exhibition floor will serve as a platform for networking and technological exploration, hosting leading regional and global brands. Delegates will have direct access to the latest innovations, game releases, and industry-leading services and solutions driving the Canadian gaming market forward. The Summit offers a variety of daytime and evening networking opportunities. On June 17, the Canadian Gaming Summit Opening Party takes place at the RS Sports Bar. On the morning of June 18, delegates are invited to attend the Global Gaming Women Breakfast Meetup at the Official Bar & Lounge on the show floor. That evening, the Official Networking Party takes place at the Hockey Hall of Fame featuring an appearance by former NHL and Toronto Maple Leafs player Wendel Clark.
